2020 hasn't exactly been the best year overall, but when you look at its biggest game releases, it stands out for all the right reasons. This looks set to continue as we enter the peak end-of-year rush, with plenty of new titles vying for the attention of your gaming PC. So whether you're looking for gift ideas or writing your own Christmas list, here's three of the hottest new PC releases that will be near the top of gaming charts this year.

Cyberpunk 2077

Perhaps best known from the outside as "the game that stars Keanu Reeves" after his surprise headline reveal at E3 2019, Cyberpunk 2077 will almost certainly prove to be so much more besides. Based on a popular dystopian tabletop RPG, the game takes place in the fictional Night City in California, where the rule of law is almost non-existent and gangs rule the streets.

It's rumoured to have multiple endings and failing quests won't halt your progress. Considering how much you can do in this game and how visually astounding it looks, a good gaming PC will surely be the best way to experience Night City.

Immortals Fenyx Rising

Originally marketed as Gods and Monsters before changing its title, you shouldn't let the strange name of this one put you off. The game is a third person action-adventure set in an impressive open world inspired by the gods of Greek mythology, so if you or anyone you know likes that kind of setting, this could be a perfect fit. You play as the soldier Fenyx, a customisable character who players can change as they see fit. With a range of gameplay options that include platforming, puzzles, and plenty of combat abilities, this title could keep you occupied for hours on end.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Yakuza has always had a strong cult following but one could argue it's now more popular than ever, mostly due to the hugely successful HD remasters of previous games in the series as well as the critically acclaimed prequel, Yakuza 0. These have helped make it accessible to a whole new audience, but you don't have to be a fan to take an interest in the latest instalment. Like a Dragon is the eighth main title and looks set to continue the series' trademark open world exploration of fictionalised Japan, with outlandish combat and colourful humour.

You take control of Ichiban Kasuga, a new protagonist who's served 18 years for a murder he didn't commit, as he tries to uncover the reasons behind his imprisonment, clashing with all kinds of criminals and gangsters in the process. The game takes place in a different setting, offering Yokohama as your sandbox rather than Tokyo as in previous games. This new setting and character help make the game a superb entry point for players unfamiliar with previous titles, as well as offering the gameplay and exploration that seasoned Yakuza fans are sure to love.
